The Tasks section is the top item in Gmail Labs, just check the "enable" box and save your changes. After that, when you refresh Gmail, the new Tasks link will appear under the Contacts link.

To turn an e-mail into a task, say a meeting you need to attend, just head to the More Actions drop-down menu and choose "Add to Tasks." Or you can also use the new keyboard shortcuts to add items to your to-do list.
Gmail’s task manager allows you to create multiple lists and quickly switch between them, as well as indent items, check them off when you finish something, drag-and-drop to reorder your priorities, and clear completed items.
