Android Tooth Tag

Tooth Tag

The all new app from Android called Tooth Tag

Wow the smart phone by Android is getting even smarter than its competitors. Android 2.1 has a new application called Tooth Tag that has been put together by the group NeuAer programmers. This smart device is supposed to make your life easier and more fun while you are out and about.

There are a few proximity-based applications out on the market and probably still more to come because of the great information that Tooth Tag has to offer. The Android Tooth Tag does not rely on GPS but is uses radio signals such as Near-Field-Communication (NFL) and WiFi technology and of course Bluetooth devices. This Tooth Tag application lets you tag Bluetooth and Wifi devices, so when these devices are tagged and they come with range of where you are it will send you an alert or email, how ever you have it set up in the settings of the app.

Again this is a free application for the Android 2.1 but the negative problem is that is going to frustrate many people is that it does not work on the iPhone. I am sure it won’t take long for technology and programmers to come up with a similar application for the iPhone. Developers of this NeuAer ProxPlatform are saying that there will be plug-ins for this application in the near future.

An example how the application works

Let’s say that you and your friend are out hunting in a dense forest and you tag your friends blue tooth.  All of a sudden your phone starts vibrating because you have gone to far away from your friend and it just warned you that you have disconnected from your friends Blutooth. This is an awesome application for keeping track of your children. This is called a disconnect event.

A connect event that would come in handy for me is this. Let’s say I drop a tag in my ex-wife’s cell phone, I am out with my girl friend at a local restaurant. My phone sends me a text or email telling me that my ex is within the parameters. This may save my night of enjoyment and a long awaited fight with my ex-wife because I was able to make a quick exit thanks to this great application on my phone.

If you have an Android phone give this application a try. Let me know what you think of it. Being free what do you have to loose. iPhone users, I am sure that you will see a similar application for you in the very near future.

Does your computer start slow and run slow?

Does your computer start slow and run slow?

So many times we receive calls in our shop that my computer starts so slow or it freezes up when it tries to start. This can be an annoying problem but it does not have to be. We find many of these computers are bogged down with programs trying to start when the computer is booting up. In today’s society when we want things fast and now, waiting for a computer to start sometimes is like watching paint dry, it takes forever. Most of the time it just takes a little tweaking of the computer operating system to get it too speed up when the operating system is loading.

When computer systems come to our work bench we find that sometimes there is many as twenty or thirty programs trying to load and run at the same time when the windows operating system is loading. This can cause major problems especially if the Random Access Memory is low. With low RAM memory in the computer and you have this many programs trying to load along with the operating system trying to load this can cause the computer system to malfunction and all of a sudden you receive what is called the blue screen of death. When this happens customers tend to freak out and call there computer system dead and run out and purchase a newer and hopefully faster computer system or they call an expensive computer repair company. Most of the time a resolution to the situation can easily resolve the issue and save the customer hundreds of dollars in repair cost. Again with just a few simple tweaks you can have your computer system running like new again.

First let’s look at the lower right hand corner of your computer screen. See all those little icons down by the clock. These little icons are software programs that are running in the background and what is causing the computer to run so slow. These are also computer programs that start loading at the time the operating system is trying to load when you turn the computer system on. Most of these programs do not need to be running when the computer is running or need to be loading at the time the computer system is started.

To shut these programs off and not to turn on when the computer is fired up we need to do a little tweaking to the “System Configuration Utility”. This may sound scary and it can be to most computer beginners. In reality it is not as difficult as it sounds. First turn your computer system on, after the computer is turned on and running smoothly go to the start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Click on start and then find the “run” button when the start window appears. When you find “run” click on it and then you will have another window appear. After this window appears type in “MSCONFIG” then click on OK button. Another window will appear called “System Configuration Utility”, this is where you want to be, take a look at the group of tabs just under the name. Click on the tab that is called “startup”, this is where you will be doing some tweaking. Here you will uncheck the programs that you feel you do not need running all the time. Most of them remember do not need to be running just because your computer is running. Now you may want to Google the one’s that you do not recognize to figure out just exactly what it is and if it needs to be running in order to have your operating system to run correctly. Always lean in the area of caution, if you are not sure then leave it alone. Remember if it has a check in the box then it will run when you start your computer. So be careful and uncheck all the boxes you know do not need to be running.

When you have finished tweaking the start up options and you have turned off all unnecessary programs then this would be a good time to clean up your registry and really make your computer system run like clock work. To do this check out Registry Error and Problems and get help with cleaning up your computer registry.

When you have accomplished all this you should find that your compute should be running like the day you bought it. The computer should be back to normal and you can save your self hundreds of dollars by taking care of these fixes yourself.

Computer Registry Errors

Computer Registry Errors or Problems

Does your computer run slow, is it sluggish or tired acting?  Have you ran a virus scan and done a defrag to help speed things up? If so and your computer is still running terrible then more than likely you have errors in the registry files of your computer.

You ask what are registry files? The registry is what I call the file cabinet of the computer system. The system registry is one of the most vital parts of the operating system in the computer. The Windows system registry should not be touched or tampered with if you are a beginner to computers. Deleting files that may look like nothing can cause major harm to the operation of Windows.

If you go into the system registry of the compute you will see that data is stored in the registry in a tree format structure. An application that you use on your computer uses the registry in several different ways. Depending on the application that is being used determines how the application uses the registry or how it writes data in the registry. When problems start occurring with your computer more than likely there are errors in your registry file cabinet. Problems with the computer itself will usually occur because of invalid or missing keys in the Windows registry.

Some of the issues that the computer may have include:

  • System Crashes
  • Computer runs slow
  • The computer system all of a sudden stalls out
  • Memory Dumps
  • You receive the blue screen of death
  • Your computer will not boot up
  • Error messages when booting computer

How does the registry get errors?

Here are a list of reasons why the system registry has issues that need to be addresses:

  • You tend to frequently install or uninstall computer programs.
  • You do not uninstall software on your computer incorrectly.
  • Malicious plug-ins get stored on your computer from surfing the internet.
  • As time goes on and you do not clean up the registry cabinet it tends to get overloaded in time and causes the computer to slow down.
  • You may have embedded spyware installed on your computer that corrupts the registry.
  • You have drivers stored on your computer that are no longer being used that also slows down the computer.

There are many registry cleaners on the market. Do your research before purchasing a registry cleaner. We recommend Registry Easy. Registry Easy is an excellent Windows Registry Cleaner that scans your PC and safely cleans errors & invalid entries that cause system slowdowns, freezing and crashing. Registry Easy repairs registry problems to make your computer run like new again!

Registry Easy uses a high-performance detection algorithm that will quickly identify missing and invalid references in your Windows registry. With a few easy steps Registry Easy will scan your entire Windows registry for any invalid or obsolete entries and provide a list of the registry errors found. After that you can choose to clean list items with selection or automatically repair them all. For your convenience and protection, Registry Easy also provides a backup mechanism for any repaired files so that you can easily recover any changes if required.

If you have answered yes to any of these questions you may want to try this great little inexpensive CPU COOLER from Cooler Master. The reviews that I have read on this great little cooler have been great. So dont burn up your system in order to save yourself a few dollars. Battery Powered Automobiles

Battery Powered Cars….

So we see the big automakers trying to cram battery powered cars down our throats. We saw this in the super bowl adds during the 2011 super bowl commercials. The auto industry is wanting to see cars running up and down the freeways using batteries instead of gasoline.

With the way the world is going with wars and rumors of wars in the middle east where a large supply of our fuel comes from it does make sense to find alternative sources of energy and fuel. But the problem is the cost of electric here in America. What the car manufactures are not telling us in the commercials is what is the cost of recharging one of these cars. In an article from Scientific American the question is raised “drivers need to know how, when and where they will be able to recharge their batteries, not to mention how much it is going to cost.
The addition of an electric car to a home's electrical system is not just a new load, it's a big load—in some places doubling what a home currently consumes, says Paul Fulton, general manager of Cisco Systems's Prosumer Unit (which works on both consumer and professional networking technology).” Source

In my opinion we are in need to find alternatives to our energy use-age but is electric cars really the answer? There are many variables out their in the world, such as hydrogen, solar, nuclear, and etc. We need to take a look at all sources of alternative energy before just taking the first one that is jammed down our throats. I am no saying that electric cars are bad but it just seems like all of a sudden we are getting hit from every direction in this new concept.

DeFraggler From Piriform

DeFraggler From Piriform

Defraggler from Piriform is unique application that allows you to defrag files without having to defragging the whole drive. Most defrag tools only allow you to defrag an entire drive. Defraggler lets you specify one or more files, folders, or the whole drive to defragment.
In just a moment you can see how and what is fragmented on your hard drive. With this application tool it gives your hard drive a quick one touch quick defrag. So while you are not using the computer  you can set the computer to defraggle and walk away and come back to a computer that is running much faster and smoother.

Defraggler is from Piriform which also came out with one of my favorite programs called CCleaner. Both these programs are completely free.
