What is a zibbet?

What is a zibbet?

Zibbet.com is a new online art gallery and marketplace which just launched this February. If the name “Zibbet” strikes you as slightly strange, think of the word “exhibit” instead and it’ll suddenly make a lot more sense.

As stated on their about page, one of Zibbet’s founding principles is “pay nothing until you sell something.” To that end, they’ve created a service which is completely free to sign up for, and won’t cost you anything until you actually make a sale.

There IS a pay-as-you-go option for artists who want more exposure in a special “showroom” on Zibbet.com, but as you’ll see in a minute, it’s not required.

What Made You Decide to Start an Online Handmade Marketplace?

"The initial motivation for starting Zibbet was the fact that both of us (Jonathan & Andrew), had been very interested in going into business together, and we particularly liked the idea of establishing an online business through an e-commerce site.
Having taken the time to research many different markets, we concluded that we would be able to do some really good things for the handmade industry."

How Can Zibbet Benefit an Artist Who Wants to Start Earning a Living With Art?

"An online selling venue is a fantastic place to start out as an artisan looking to earn a living from their creative abilities. At Zibbet we believe that we provide artisans with the very best option of the available selling venues.

Online venues typically have extremely low start up costs and ongoing costs. Online venues are easy places to direct your customers no matter where they might be in the world. Online venues are better than traditional shop-front businesses because they can be open for business 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. People can literally earn money while they are sleeping.

Specifically, Zibbet is the right choice for artisans starting out as it is a very friendly and supportive environment with a tremendous amount of tools immediately available for use. The entry cost can be as low as free, and the quantity of knowledge and help available in our community is quite staggering."

What Should Anyone Who Wants to Sell Art Do?

"Without a doubt you have to be fully convinced in your own heart that what you do has value and to never stop believing that. Too many people waste too much time waiting for someone else to give validation to their passions. This is the surest way to slide back into mediocrity and commonness. To stand out, you must be confident and believe that what you are doing will succeed and that there is not a single obstacle on Earth that can stop you achieving your dreams.
